Henry Webster is a twice graduate from California Institute of the Arts, holding his BFA in Violin Performance (class of ’09) and his MFA in Performer-Composer (class of ’17).
During his time at CalArts he studied with Mark Menzies, Lorenz Gamma, Clay Chaplin and Eyvind Kang. As a Violinist, he has performed throughout Los Angeles at venues including Royce Hall, Redcat and the world famous Troubador.
As a composer Henry utilizes a collage of field recordings, driving rhythms, live audio processing and lush string textures, aiming to combine advanced instrumental technique with sound art and popular style.
Henry is also an accomplished Teaching Artist. Currently he is an Associate Lead instructor for the Community Arts Partnership’s Saturday music program for High Schoolers, hosted at CalArts. Throughout his five years teaching for CAP, he has taught a variety of subjects including music theory, electronic music, chamber music and acoustic theory. He is now our newest addition to the SPMCC faculty in the areas of chamber music and electronic music.
